What happened before

10 years have passed since Jo March traveled to New York in the last part of  Little Women (Rem: Nippon Animation animated only Part 1 of  Little Women before Little Men. What happened inbetween in "Good Wives" is not animated)

In New York she met the German professor Friedrich Bhaer and married him some years later. She became mother of two little sons: Rob and Teddy (named after Theodore "Teddy" Laurence aka Laurie) .

Aunt March passed away and left her house ´Plumfield´ to Jo. Jo and her husband established a school for poor children in Plumfield

The Story

This Anime narrates the adventures and the experiences Missis Jo and her husband encounter, trying to teach their pupils. Using revolutionary methods (for that time), they try to lead the children on the right path of life. Sometimes this does not suceed in the first attempt... ;-)

Artbook

ArtbookOne of my biggest treasures I own along the WMT-Series is the artbook that was released in Japan. I didn't have to search for it, I found it in a local comic shop here in Germany where it had been laying around for some time and nobody was interested in it (Ok that was back in 1999 or so I guess).

This artbook is the best evidence for with how much love and interest the anime in the WMT-Series have been produced. Besides an episode guide with pictures the book contains sketches of the characters, rooms, buildings and landscape, interviews with the staff members (I wish I could read Japanese *sigh*) and many informations on Louisa May Alcott, her work and live. There are even pictures of Concord where she had lived an pictures of the graves of her and her family members.

The photos in  picture gallery and background art are scans from the artbook, also the picture an the end of this page.

Merchandise

Two figurines of Nan

I found these two figurines on ebay Germany where they were sold by a guy living in Japan. To my surprise I was the only bidder.

There are a lot of such figurines from WMT Characters sold in Japan.
